GREAT Britain’s boxing team manager Matt Holt insists his athletes will have to beat the best to win gold at London 2012 following today’s draw.

TOUGH DRAW: Natasha Jonas could face number one seed, Ireland's Katie Taylor, in quarter final

Speaking after lightweight Natasha Jonas was faced with a potential quarter-final tie against number one seed Katie Taylor, from Ireland, Holt said there are no easy draws in the competition.

Liverpool-born Jonas was drawn against American Quanitta Underwood in the first round and Holt believes the southpaw is prepared for all comers.

"Obviously, she's got to box Quanitta Underwood who's a terrific boxer and it's tough in the top half of the draw.

“Natasha's well prepared. She had a fantastic world championships, where she won a bronze medal, and the whole team will be confident that she can progress."

Super-heavyweight Anthony Joshua was drawn against Cuban Cotilla Savon and Holt is aware of the strong traditions of boxing in the Caribbean nation.

"It's always tough against the Cubans, one of the most talented, if not the most talented, boxing nations in the world,” he said.

“We know in Anthony Joshua he's got a super heavyweight and he can mix it among the best.

“He showed that in the world championships. We'll go out and look forward to an exciting bout."

Four of Team GB’s male boxers and two female boxers were seeded in the draw and Holt believes this is testament to the progress of his team.

"There are some interesting bouts in there for the GB squad as much as there are for any other team and if you want to get to the medal stages of the Olympic Games you've got to face the best boxers in the world.

"They are the proceedings. We just accept it the way it is.
